Business Lending

Through its Business Lending program, MCOG provides direct financing assistance for start-ups, expansions and modernizations throughout the Midcoast region. Over $1.5MM in loans have leveraged another $7.2MM in private financing and have led to the retention of more than 210 jobs and the creation of more than 110 jobs. For more information, contact:

MCOG Cooperative Services

MCOG partners with the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) which administers the Cooperative Services Program.  Click the above link for the bid sequence, this year’s bid schedule and program fees.

If you are an MCOG community member and would like to be added to our Cooperative Services Distribution, just send us an email using the address on the right side of this page and type “Add me to the Cooperative Services Distribution” in the subject line.  Telephone requests are always welcomed also.

Technical Assistance and Training

In partnership with the Midcoast Economic Development District, MCOG assists municipalities in accessing grant funding for community priorities.

PTAC Procurement Technical Assistance

Maine PTAC is part of a nationwide network of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, or PTACs. We work with Maine-based companies that are interested in selling their products and/or services to local, state or federal government agencies, either as prime contractors or subcontractors. Maine PTAC’s experienced counselors provide a wide range of counseling services to assist Maine PTAC clients market to government agencies and government prime contractors.  For more information click on the link above.

 Small Business Development Center

Maine Small Business Development Centers (Maine SBDC) provide comprehensive business management assistance to the small business community through a network of professional, certified business counselors.

Business owners meet with counselors to address their concerns from starting, managing and diversifying, to marketing, growing and financing.

Workshops and seminars expand small business know-how and practical applications.
No-cost and confidential – over 90% of clients would recommend the MaineSBDC to other businesses.
